Vesak Festival 2015 – A Sri Lankan Experience

The full moon day of the month of May is celebrated by Buddhists all over the world to remember the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Lord Buddha. The Buddhist Vihara (Temple) of Queensland at 108 Eric Street, Goodna in collaboration with the Brisbane City Council organize the above festival annually to highlight the cultural and religious aspects. This is the 18th year of having this festival in Brisbane.

Temple Development Programme...

Temple development programme mainly includes;

  • Chethiya Development Project
  • Construction of a car park (Council requirement)
  • Development of sewerage System (Council requirement)
  • Entrance road improvement (Council requirement)

Temple has already initiated several fund raising activities to complete these projects, in addition to the valuable donations received from devotees.

Estimated budget provisions for the main development programme are estimated as follows;

Chethiya Development Project AUD 70,000
Construction of Car Park AUD 25,000
Development of Sewerage System AUD 30,000
Entrance Road Improvement AUD 60,000
